“Every time you victimized someone…you were victimizing yourself. Every act of kindness you’ve done, you’ve done to yourself. Every happy and sad moment ever experienced by any human was, or will be, experienced by you.” — The Egg, Andy Weir
There’s a lot going on in the world. So many changes. So many moving components we don’t even know where to look. But through it all one thing that we can agree on is how negative it all seems.
There is a lot of negativity. There are a lot of things to be stressed about, to cry about, to rage about. The world has forgotten the power of kindness.
The result? Death. War. Drought. And even deeper… Greed. It’s everywhere. It consumes everything. And we are left feeling powerless.
But the truth?
Kindness is a choice that we can choose every day. We have that control.
And the great thing about kindness is there is not one strict rule to how we choose to hand it out.
Kindness is love.
It’s empathy and connection.
But kindness is also forgiveness and accountability.
It’s boundary setting.
It’s true bravery.
Kindness is the love we are capable of giving. The strength we can lend to our community to help it flourish.
We can choose every day to spread kindness over negativity. In small ways or big ways. It’s up to you.
With love and butterflies,
Shay
P.S. If you have not read ‘The Egg’ by Andy Weir, I highly suggest it! It’s linked above. 🙂
