“There’s a little witch in all of us…” ~Practical Magic

I can’t believe we’re already nearing the end of my favorite month of the year, October. The season really did change from beginning to end. My garden is taking its last breath before the winter veggies take over. Some will wake with the new year, and others will grow from the seeds their mothers gave me to treasure until the next season of life.
One of the best things about this time of year is the way it brings people together, family, friends, and those quiet connections that don’t drain your energy but build your soul. It’s that kind of season. The season of crafts, spells, and potions.
One craft you can do is decorate a witch’s broom. Or rather a cinnamon stick broom.
Cinnamon has been used for generations for protection and love. It’s why many welcome every month by blowing cinnamon out their front doors and placing it under their doormats, inviting in abundance.
So let’s invite abundance this Samhain season…

Meaning
Cinnamon: Protection, Love, Wealth
Eucalyptus: Protection, Health, Purification
Orange: Abundance, Happiness, Prosperity

Supplies
Cinnamon broomsticks (any size)
Fresh eucalyptus
Dried orange slices
Dried flowers
Charms
Twine
Glue
Best friend
How to:
Clear your space, laying out your supplies with intention. Maybe light a candle. This craft is as important as its ritual. (Loud, screaming children in the background are optional.)
Start with your greenery. This is all about preference, put as little or as much as you want and tie it into the twine of your stems.
Then go orange. Dried limes or lemons work well too, oranges just give fall vibes in my opinion. These can be hot glued on or have twine woven through them in order to attach.
The charms are my favorite part. These are all about preference. Once you add the greenery and the orange you can put just about anything on these brooms. From beads to charms to even paper intentions. This is all about what feels right for you and what you may have around your house.
Hang with intention. When completed, hang it up by your front door or in your kitchen. When you look at it, will intentions of love, positivity, and abundance.
This is one of those projects where anything goes, like most things in my life, but the most important item on that supply list is your best friend(s). The fall season is about spending time with the people you love, and the best way to do that is through projects you can bond over. In order to truly invite abundance into your life, you must seal your charm with quality time from a loved one.
I love to hang mine by my front door, not only to bring in abundance but also to cleanse my energy. Sometimes it’s coming home from a hard day and I see the broom and remember not to let negative energy come into my home. Or I’m heading out into the world, and it serves as a reminder to try and show up as the best version of myself. I also keep a small version in my kitchen because it’s a very active energy in my home. I welcome abundance of good food and company, and cleanse the energy, i.e., wash a load of dishes and reset my space.
With love & abundance,
Sarah and Shay
