The Slow Burn Simmer Pot Recipe

The Slow Burn Simmer Pot Recipe

Call me cliche, but I love Valentine’s Day… it’s gimmicky, sure, but I kind of like that. I know for some, they appreciate grand gestures of declared love… love that’s loud, and that love is beautiful, but for me, I like the gentle, intimate moments. It doesn’t have to be the kind of intimacy that’s physical…although it could be…but also the kind of intimacy where you feel seen. Where their kisses don’t only run across your skin, but through the bareness of your soul.

So when coming up with this simmer pot recipe, I wanted to capture that feeling and bring that energy into my home… so without further ado, here is the recipe:
(If you want to know the meaning behind the ingredients, as well as the intentions, they’ll be listed at the end.)

Ingredients

  • Grapefruit (sliced)
  • Apple (sliced)
  • Rose Petals
  • Cinnamon
  • Vanilla Bean (extract is fine)
  • 1/4 tsp Tumeric
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp cardamom
  • Moon Water (Tap water is fine too)

Instruction

Add water to your favorite pot. Then add the grapefruit, apple, rose petals, cinnamon, vanilla, and spices and bring to a simmer.

Tip: the amount of ingredients depends on the size of your pot and amount of water. Just keep in mind turmeric and nutmeg are strong in aroma so add with caution.

The Intentions of Ingredients

Grapefruitsuch a bright, citrusy smell with just a touch of tang, and honestly it’s one of my favorite fruits. It welcomes uplifting and energetic feelings into your space.

Applea crisp companion with a sweet, slightly tart aroma. A reminder of a comforting, gentle sweetness that allows space for openness and safety.

Rose Petalsthe gentle smell of floral, soft, and romantic. The ultimate symbol of love so tender it’s almost nostalgic. Spend time in her tender embrace.

Cinnamonthe constant in almost all my simmer pots with its warm and earthy flair of spice. It creates a space of warmth that feels cozy. Like the crook of my husband’s neck I like to snuggle my nose into for a sniff. It feels like home.

Vanillaa cozy smell that holds space for everything. Sweet, subtle, yet an aroma that carries all the others. The smell of sensuality.

Turmericdemands attention if you’re not careful with its slightly woodsy spice. Through generations of many cultures, turmeric is believed to have healing and purification properties.

Nutmegthe gentle, woodsy, nutty flavor of the heart. A warm addition to the simmer that grounds the energy and evokes intimacy.

Cardamom sweet, spicy, yet lightly citrusy. A smell that arouses a gentle excitement. Equally exotic and intoxicating, but elegant and soft. A ritualistic scent for intimacy.

Moon Water bathed in the moon’s full light and purified with onyx, tiger’s eye, and amethyst. It brings protection and clarity into your space. Intuition and intimacy go hand in hand.

Simmer pots are meant to be fun and intentional… a bright scent that invites good energy and gives us an opportunity to use ingredients in our kitchen that may be coming to the end of their life. Before you start, turn on your favorite music, pour your favorite drink… maybe even pour one for your lover, and relax into the moment. Stay open in your meditation, invite good emotions, and have fun with it. Get creative. I would love to know how you simmer…

Love,

Shay
