March was one of my favorite months yet! I got to explore topics that I am very interested in and they have helped inspire some blog posts. My goal is to hit 50 books by the end of December and we are making good head way. If I could select any books to add to your TBR, these would be the top of the list:

1. Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir (Book 9/50) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This book was recommended to me by my husband, who happened to listen to the audiobook version and absolutely loved it. Needless to say, I was very excited to pick up this book… I was not disappointed. There was a lot of science and extraterrestrial stuff all throughout this book, yet there was something so deeply human about it. Although the main character was put into a position that no other person has ever experienced, a man who sits deeply in his intelligence yet fears it is so relatable as a character. His fear is deep, but in the end, it didn’t define him. If you haven’t read this book, I suggest it 100%, even if you have already seen the movie. The book makes the world more tangible.

2. A Hidden Gift by Bae Korst (Book 10/50) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Through this challenge, I really wanted to make sure that I was reading books that were different than what I am used to reading, and with that I have come across so many self-published indie authors like Ms. Bae Korst herself. A Hidden Gift was such a nostalgic read for me. It reminded me of the days when I wrote on Wattpad! There were so many treasures on there, much like this book. If you wanna support an indie author who makes amazing romance novellas, you have to check this book out. Contains spice 🌶️ so if your a lightly zested spicy girl this one is for you.

3. The Will to Change by bell hooks (Book 11/50) ✨✨✨✨✨
Can we just give bell hooks all the stars? She is one of my favorite authors! She has not only taught me so much about the kind of writing I enjoy, but she has inspired me to be a better person. bell hooks is one of those authors that everyone should read, whether they agree or not. She has such a way with words and translating the meaning of love. The Will to Change is a deep dive into how masculinity is handled in today’s society. Her deeper message is always underlying in love. If you’re going to pick any one of her books to read, let it be this one first. Because, man, what a treat it was… and a really quick, accessible read.

4. Red Rising by Pierce Brown (Book 12/50) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
OMG this book is soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo GOOD! And I don’t want to talk much about it because it was such a treat to read for the first time. I say treat lightly… this book was devastating from the moment it starts. All the moments of hope that seem to build up are dashed quickly. The positive chatter online is definitely deserved, if not more. Red Rising is deeper than meets the eye. The character is not only young but is introduced to new and differing perspectives outside his own and has to face many harsh realities. This book is deeply political and all about a young boy and his many losses… especially in love. All in all, this is an excellent sci-fi book. Can you tell what genre I am enjoying?

5. All About Love by bell hooks (Book 13/50) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This book was an excellent reminder about the need for community… how we can maintain individuality but live in a place of love where we can work in a world of collectivism. bell hooks is the ultimate translator for a love so pure that it doesn’t rely on what one brings to the table, but rather that their humanity is what deserves love. I absolutely enjoyed this read, and if you’re curious about the concepts of self-love and loving others, this is an amazing read.
What books did you read this month? Do you have any recommendations?
