“Let’s two-step our hearts desires, chancla dance to our souls content. Wear that guayabera with Penner’s pride and dale shine and go to the Alameda, mark time at Market Square. Make it year-round Fiesta con mariachis and marching bands and floats that have to actually float.” – “A Love Letter to San Antonio” by the Poet Laureate of San Antonio, Eduardo “Eddie” Vega
Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month
September 15th – October 15th![]()
Heritage months give us the time to reflect, learn and uplift the voices that are often overlooked. They bring awareness. While all history is for us to bare, these moments invite us to truly listen.
The term “Hispanic” is a broad term that includes many cultures and histories from all over and each one deserves to be heard.
This month (and really everyday on my blog) I want to highlight local artist, businesses, and storytellers from my community in San Antonio. People who shape the culture of our city. I will also be sharing educational centers and videos as well as other helpful resources.
🎉This is a growing list! So please share your favorite local talent and businesses!
🦋Most importantly: Support local! Show them some love!
Disclaimer: Please only share public recommendations or businesses/ artists who are comfortable being featured! Respecting privacy is my number one priority! The businesses and people mentioned in this post and any others are independent and not affiliated with or represented by me. I simply aim to highlight local talent in our communities. These are personal recommendations as well as readers who wanted to give shoutouts to their favorites! Follow my socials if you want to be a part of the conversation.
